At the time of writing (25 October 2026), our 10-bag Travel Packs ($23.10) and 12-bag Pantry packs (from $27.39), including Bunji Pantry bags, fit a $30 Secret Santa cap on the item price alone. A 250 g bag of beans fits too when you know how the recipient brews and can choose their grind. Check whether your exchange's budget includes delivery before you buy.
We began roasting as a family in our garage in 2014, then started Grounded Drops with drip bags in 2018. Today we air roast to order in NSW, with the roast date on every label, and deliver across Australia. Here's how I'd check a small coffee present against the rules of your draw.
Which Grounded Drops coffee comes in under the cap?
Travel 10-packs, Pantry 12-packs and the bean packs below qualify at our prices at the time of writing (25 October 2026). Each row describes a complete retail pack, with delivery separate.
| Pack | What's inside | Price at time of writing | Left under $30 before delivery | Who it suits |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Travel Pack | 10 drip bags, choose Wayfarer, Nemophilist or Hodophile | $23.10 | $6.90 | Someone taking coffee between home and work |
| Pantry pack | 12 drip bags, choose Wayfarer, Nemophilist, Hodophile or Gadabout decaf | $27.39 | $2.61 | Someone brewing in one place |
| Bunji Pantry pack | 12 drip bags, Australian single origin | $29.59 | $0.41 | Someone who asks for Australian-grown coffee, only if delivery isn't counted |
| Coffee beans, 250 g | Wayfarer, Nemophilist, Hodophile or Gadabout, whole or ground | $15.35 | $14.65 | A known brewer, with room in the budget for extras |
| Bunji beans, 250 g | Australian single origin, choose an available grind | $17.55 | $12.45 | A known brewer who wants Australian-grown coffee |
Pick the size as well as the roast before adding it to your basket. Larger sizes have different prices.
Does your $30 cap include delivery?
Ask the organiser whether the cap covers the item alone or the delivered cost, including any wrapping and card. Delivery is charged at checkout unless your order qualifies for free shipping.
At the time of writing, Australian orders over $80 after discounts receive free shipping and a free gift. The checkout total for your address shows the final delivered cost.
If the exchange counts everything, leave room for those extras rather than choosing a pack right against the limit. If you're handing it over yourself, delivery to you still counts if the organiser includes it.
Travel Pack or Pantry bags: which makes the better Secret Santa?
Travel Pack drip bags are each sealed in their own sachet; Pantry bags share one nitrogen-flushed pack. At the time of writing, the Travel Pack also leaves more room under $30 if delivery counts.
The Pantry pack is still a complete coffee gift. Keep it together and give the whole pack to your recipient. Don't open it to make separate stocking fillers.
Both formats let you give coffee without choosing a grind. They need a cup and hot water, so you don't have to find out which machine lives on their kitchen bench. For a first-time drip-bag user, add a link to our step-by-step drip coffee bag guide on your own gift tag.
Which roast should you pick if you don't know their taste?
If you don't know their taste, I'd pick Wayfarer, which our bean page describes for milk or black. If you know they drink milk coffee, choose Hodophile, which we make for milk-based coffee.
Wayfarer is our Colombia single origin, with dark cherry, ripe plums and subtle chocolate, and a fruity finish. Nemophilist, our Kenya single origin, is also listed for milk or black, with blackcurrant, walnut and cocoa notes.
If they've asked for decaf, choose Gadabout in Pantry bags or beans. Bunji, our Australian single origin, also comes in Pantry bags or beans. Neither is a Travel Pack option. If you can't establish what coffee they'd want, a $25 gift card is also available at the time of writing; our coffee gift card or coffee guide covers that choice.
When do beans make sense instead?
Beans make sense when you know their brewer and can select the matching grind. I'd start with the 250 g pack for a small gift, and choose Whole Beans only if they use a grinder.
For ground coffee, match Espresso to an espresso machine, Stovetop to a stovetop pot, Filter to a filter brewer, or Plunger to a plunger. Check the available choices for the roast you've selected.
How should you wrap it?
Keep the coffee in its original retail pack and use your own wrapping and card.
A short note can explain the choice: “A few coffees for your desk drawer” suits a Travel Pack. Confirm the delivery address before ordering if you're sending the present directly, and check your plan against the organiser's budget rule.
You can put your own coffee in the same order if you already need it, but buying extra just to qualify for free shipping increases your spend. If you're actually organising everyone's presents, our corporate Christmas coffee gifts guide covers a whole-team order.
