Roast of the MonthOctober 2026
Single origin · Brazil
Brazil Mogiana
Milk chocolate · Hazelnut · Caramel · Low acidity · Smooth body · Medium roast
Last month's Blue Batak was our first dark roast. October sits in the middle: a medium-roast Brazil that drinks easy, black or with milk.
It comes from Mogiana, the coffee country of north-eastern São Paulo along the Minas Gerais border. The region is named after the old Mogiana railway that served its coffee farms, and most of its coffee grows above 800 metres.
This lot is graded Fine Cup, the Brazilian trade grade for a coffee that has been cup-tested and found clean, with no off-flavours. It is also screened to a consistent bean size, which helps it roast evenly.
We have taken it to a medium. Milk chocolate, hazelnut and caramel, low acidity and a smooth, rounded body. Soft, mellow and easy to drink.
Drip bags aren't instant coffee. They're real ground specialty coffee in a paper filter - the exact same brewing method as a pour-over, just held by your mug instead of a stand.
1
Open the top
Tear the top off along the OPEN HERE strip.
2
Open the wings
Fold the two paper side wings outward.
3
Hang it on your mug
Rest the wings over the rim. Wide mug? Push the handles together for a firmer hinge.
4
Pour
Bloom with a splash (about 30ml), wait 30 seconds, then pour to the top and let it filter through. Repeat to taste.
5
Enjoy
Lift the bag out, add milk if you like, and enjoy.
Two pours through the bag makes a strong cup - that's your baseline. Want it stronger? Use a little less water. Want it milder? Add a splash more. Your cup, your call.

The ease of drink bags is the reason why I stock up. I have tried all flavours and thought I would try the decaf for my late arvo work coffee. Simple, nice flavour for a decaf and again easy to use and easy to store in my work locker.
I'm a proud Aussie who always buys local, whenever possible. The Bunji Beans are 1) grown in Qld 2) roasted in NSW and 3) make delicious espressos (among others). The only way they could be better is if they were roasted in Adelaide (but I'm clearly biased. 🤣) 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Decided to take the plunge and swap out the favourite for a change- wasn’t disappointed.

Love our ongoing supply of delicious coffee. It’s consistently good and always fresh. Recently renovated the pantry and made sure there was a shelf dedicated to our coffee addiction.
Brilliant coffee and customer service!! There is no longer a necessity to leave work, lose my car space and waste petrol to go for a pricey take away coffee.
So happy with Grounded Drops. I highly recommend them.
I love the taste of the Bunji beans. Strong, but not bitter at all. Knowing it is grown and processed in Australia is also a big plus in knowing I'm helping support local Aussie companies.
Great tasting coffee, and consistent!! We have been buying it for years now ☕ There was one batch that seemed really weak and Richard responded and investigated right away. Turned out to be an issue from the supplier. I was so impressed with the customer service (and continue to be).
