Why drip bags for a trip
They're the lightest real coffee you can carry. Each one is a sealed, single-serve filter that hooks over your cup, so there's no grinder, no plunger to clean and no grounds to pack out. All you add is hot water. For the full kit list, see our camping coffee guide.
Quick answers
How many coffee bags do I need for a camping trip?
One drip bag per cup. For two people drinking two cups a day over a three-day trip, that's 12 bags, so grab a 20-pack and you've got spares. Use the calculator above for your exact trip.
How much do drip coffee bags weigh to pack?
Very little. Each individually wrapped bag holds about 14 g of coffee, so a week's worth for two at two cups a day (30 bags with spares) is about 450 g, still far lighter than beans, a grinder and a brewer.
How long do drip coffee bags keep in a pack?
Over a year. Each bag is sealed in its own nitrogen-flushed sachet, so heat, dust and damp can't reach the coffee until you tear it open. Keep the box out of direct sun and it will outlast the trip.
